How to unlock an HSPA device

Easy peasy! Find your device and check out the step-by-step instructions on how to unlock it.

Apple Devices

We have completed your request to unlock your iPhone. Please follow the steps below to finalize the process on your phone.

There are 2 methods to unlock your iPhone:


Method #1

If you have a SIM card from another provider:

  1. Remove your SIM card and insert the new SIM card (Non Virgin).
  2. Follow the setup process indicated on your device.

Method #2

If you don't have a SIM card from another provider:

  1. Back up your iPhone

    • Connect your iPhone to ITunes on your computer.
    • Select your iPhone from the menu bar near the top of the screen.
    • A backup may start automatically. If not, select Back Up Now.

  2. Erase your iPhone

    Important: This step cannot be undone. Ensure you have created a backup as described above before proceeding.

    • On your phone, select Settings.
    • Scroll to and select General.
    • Scroll to and select Reset.
    • Select Erase All Content and Settings.
    • Select Erase iPhone.
    • Select Erase iPhone again.
    • Your phone will reboot.

  3. Set up your iPhone

    • Install a SIM card from any mobile provider.
    • Follow the prompts to set up your iPhone.
    • If prompted, select Restore from iTunes to restore the content you backed up earlier. Or Connect your phone to iTunes on your computer, select the iPhone and then select Restore Backup.

Troubleshooting

Your iPhone will not indicate that it is unlocked. You will know it has been unlocked if it works with a SIM card from another provider.

Alcatel Devices

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message Enter SIM ME lock NP will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press OK.

Heads Up!

  • The Network Lock code may be 16, 10 or 8 digits long. If the first digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the remaining digits.
  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 5 times. After 5 unsuccessful attempts, it will be permanently locked to the home carrier.

BlackBerry Devices

All Blackberry devices need the service unlock codes and network unlock codes in order for the unlock to work.

Devices with BlackBerry 10: Z10, Q10, Q5, & Z30

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. Open the Settings application.
  3. Select Security and Privacy.
  4. Select SIM Card.
    • In the Phone Network Lock section, select Unlock Network. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits. If the first 8 digits are not zeros, enter the first 8 digits.
  5. The message Enter the Network MEP code will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press OK.
  6. The message Network Code Entered Successfully will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

BlackBerry PRIV Device

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message SIM Network unlock PIN will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press Unlock. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits. If the first 8 digits are not zeros, enter the first 8 digits.
  3. The message Network Code Entered Successfully will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

BlackBerry Devices with OS other than OS 6.0

  1. Select Manage Connections.
  2. Select Turn All Connections OFF.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Select Advanced Options.
  5. Select SIM Card.
  6. Enter MEPD. You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only 'MEPD' with no spaces.
  7. Press and hold the ALT key as you enter MEP2.You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only MEP2 with no spaces.
  8. press Enter.
  9. The message Enter the Network MEP code will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press OK. This code may be 8 digits or 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  10. The message Code Accepted will appear once the device has been unlocked. If the Service Provider Lock Code provided is all zeros, the unlocking procedure has been successful. If not, continue with the following steps.
  11. Press and hold the ALT key as you enter MEP4. You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only 'MEP4' with no spaces.
  12. The message Enter the Service Provider MEP code will appear. Enter the Service Provider Lock code provided and press Enter. This code may be 8 digits or 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  13. The message Code Accepted will appear once the device has been unlocked.

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

BlackBerry Devices with OS 6.0 only (Verify OS in product description)

  1. Select Manage Connections.
  2. Select Turn All Connections OFF.
  3. Go to Options and select Device.
  4. Select Advanced System Settings.
  5. Select SIM Card.
  6. Enter MEPD. You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only 'MEPD', no spaces.
  7. Press and hold the ALT key as you enter MEP2. You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only 'MEP2', no spaces.
  8. The message Enter the Network MEP code will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press OK.
  9. The message Code Accepted will appear.
  10. Press and hold the ALT key as you enter MEP4. You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only 'MEP4', no spaces.
  11. The message Enter the Network MEP code will appear. Enter the Service Provider Lock code provided and press Enter.
  12. The message Code Accepted will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Important note: You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

BlackBerry Passport, Leap, & Classic

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. Open the Settings application.
  3. Select Security and Privacy.
  4. Select SIM Card.
  5. select Unlock Network.
  6. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press OK. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  7. The message Network Code Entered Successfully will appear once the device has been unlocked.

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

BlackBerry Curve 9380

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. Select Manage Connections.
  3. Select Turn All Connections OFF.
  4. Select Escape to go back to the Home Screen.
  5. Go to the Options menu and select Device.
  6. Select Advanced System Settings.
  7. Select SIM Card.
  8. Press the Blackberry key and select Show Keyboard.
  9. Enter MEPD. You won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only 'MEPD' with no spaces.
  10. Press the 123 key once to bring up the number pad.
  11. Press and hold the ABC key as you enter MEP.
  12. Release the ABC key and enter 2.
  13. The message Enter the Network MEP code will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press Enter. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  14. The message Code Accepted will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

Doro

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. Enter the Unlock code provided and press OK.

2nd option

  1. Turn on device without a SIM Card.
  2. Enter the sequence *#787464# just like you would for a phone number.
  3. Enter the unlock code provided.
  4. Phone is now unlocked.

HTC

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message SIM Network unlock PIN will appear. Enter the IMEI Master Lock code provided and press OK. The IMEI Master Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.

Heads Up!

  • If you enter an incorrect code 4 times, you will have to wait 30 seconds before trying again. Each subsequent failed attempt will add an additional 30 seconds to the wait time.

HUAWEI Y300 & Y530

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message Enter SIM Network unlock PIN will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press Unlock. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  3. The message Network unlocked Successfully will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • After 10 attempts to unlock the phone, it will be permanently locked to the home carrier.

HUAWEI B882

  1. Insert your non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device.
  2. Connect the Turbo Hub to a working Ethernet port on your computer.
  3. Launch your Web browser.
  4. Navigate to http://192.168.1.1.
  5. Enter the password admin.
  6. Click Login.
  7. Type the Unlock Code.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. The Turbo Hub will reboot. Your Turbo Hub is unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • After 10 attempts to unlock the phone, it will be permanently locked to the home carrier.

Kyocera

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device.
  2. The message Enter code will appear. Enter the Network Lock code (16 digits) provided and press Unlock.
  3. The message SIM Network Unlock Successful will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • After 5 attempts to unlock the phone, it will be permanently locked to the home carrier.

LG (Nexus 5 is already unlocked)

There are two methods to unlock LG devices. Please start with Method 1. If after following the steps in Method 1 you are not prompted to enter a SIM Network unlock PIN, please follow the steps for Method 2.

Method 1:

  1. Go to dial pad, type "2945#*XXXX#" (the "X" in red equals the phone model number and was provided by the agent when after calling in).
  2. Select network lock.
  3. Enter the 16 digits network lock code.
  4. If the unlock code is accepted, you will see a message displaying that the unlock was successful.

Method 2:

  1. Insert a non-Virgin SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. A message will appear to enter the unlock code.
  3. Enter the 16 digit network lock code.
  4. If the unlock code is accepted, you will see a message displaying that the unlock was successful.

Heads Up!

  • After 10 attempts to unlock the phone, it will be permanently locked to the home carrier.

Motorola

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message SIM Network unlock PIN will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press Unlock. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  3. The message Network unlock successful will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will become permanently locked and you won't be able to make or receive any calls. If you insert a Virgin Plus SIM card before the 10th incorrect attempt, the phone will function normally but this will not reset the number of incorrect attempts.

Nokia (Nokia LUMIA 830 is already unlocked)

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. Press the # key 1 time. You will see # on your display.
  3. Press * key 3 times. You will see p on your display.
  4. Press the * key 4 times. You will see w on your display.
  5. Press * key 2 times. You will see + on your display.
  6. Enter the last 15 digits of the IMEI Master Lock code.
  7. Press * key 2 times. You will see + on your display.
    • For models 2730, C2-01 and 7230 press the 7 key 1 time. You should now see #pw+(15-digit IMEI Master Lock code)+7 on your display.
    • For models N97, C6 and 6350 press the 5 key 1 time. You should now see #pw+(15-digit IMEI Master Lock code)+5 on your display.
  8. Press # key 1 time. You will see # on your display.
  9. Press the OK button located on the left-hand corner.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

Samsung (Including tablets)

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message SIM Network unlock PIN will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press Unlock. The Network Lock code may be 16 digits long. If the first 8 digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last 8 digits.
  3. The message Network unlock successful will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 failed attempts, you will have to log in to your Google account to reset the password or lock pattern.

Sonim XP5 & XP7

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. With a flat screwdriver or the SONIM provided tool, remove the battery cover.
  3. Remove the battery to reveal the SIM card.
  4. Remove the Virgin Plus SIM card and insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card.
  5. Re-install the battery and cover. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws.
  6. Turn the device on. The message INPUT NP CODE will appear.
  7. Enter the 8-digit Network unlock code:********
  8. Device is now unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 5 times. After 5 unsuccessful attempts, the device will become permanently locked and will only work with a Virgin Mobile SIM card. After each unsuccessful attempt, the message Wrong NP Code will appear with a counter indicating how long you must wait before trying again – between 30 and 240 seconds).

Sony

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message SIM Network unlock PIN will appear. Enter the Network Lock code (16 digits) provided and press Unlock.
  3. The message Network unlocked will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the original service provider.

ZTE Grand X V970

  1. Insert a non-Virgin Plus SIM card into the device and turn it on.
  2. The message Enter the Network Unlock code will appear. Enter the Network Lock code provided and press OK.
  3. The message SIM Network Unlock Successful will appear once the device has been unlocked.

Heads Up!

  • After 5 attempts to unlock the phone, it will be permanently locked to the home carrier.

Turbo Hub / Data Stick

  1. Client must have a non-Virgin Plus SIM.
  2. Connect the hub to the computer with the non-Virgin Plus SIM card.
  3. A menu will pop up to Insert the master lock code.
  4. Insert the provided code and press OK.
  5. Device is now unlocked.

MIFI

  1. Make sure you have a Virgin Plus SIM inside the device.
  2. Plug device into computer/laptop.
  3. Connect to MiFi device's WiFi.
  4. Go to http://my.mifi/preferences/.
  5. Login into your device (the default password is admin unless someone has changed this).
  6. Go to CUSTOMER SUPPORT.
  7. At the bottom of this page click ADVANCED.
  8. Enter the last 8 digits of the MASTER LOCK code.
  9. You will get a message in red saying the device is unlocked.

Sierra Turbo hub

  1. Client must have a non-Virgin Plus SIM.
  2. Download "Sierra watcher program file" from the Internet.
  3. Connect the hub to the computer with the non-Virgin Plus SIM card.
  4. A menu will pop up to Insert the network lock code.
  5. Insert the provided code and press OK.
  6. Device is now unlocked.

Microhard BulletPlus Wireless device (M2M)

  1. Client must have a non-Virgin SIM card.
  2. Login to the Microhard BulletPlus Wireless Backup device:
  3. Connect the device to your computer using an Ethernet cable (connect to one of the LAN ports – left or middle).
  4. Enter 192.168.168.1 in a web browser address bar to access the device's User Interface settings page.
  5. User name: admin.
  6. Password: Enter your own password. Device's default password is "admin".
  7. Go to the "Summary" tab and click on the lock icon beside the "IMEI" field.
  8. Enter the Network Lock code (16 digits) provided and press "Submit".
  9. Allow the device to reboot automatically.
  10. Return to the "Summary" tab to ensure the lock icon is cleared, which indicates unlocking has been completed successfully.
