Virgin Mobile customers can plug into Twitter right from their mobile phones

TORONTO (ONTARIO) May 12, 2009

Today Virgin Mobile Canada and Twitter dropped the news that Virgin Mobile customers can send and receive tweets by text message with their Virgin Mobile phone. Users can get set up in seconds just by logging into their Twitter account and updating their settings. Then they can use Twitter on the go right from their mobile phone by using the handy short code 21212. Standard text rates apply, but incoming Tweets are always free.


“Twitter is one of the most popular ways to share and discover what's happening right now. It’s quick, easy, and its up to the second messages are a perfect mix with mobile,” said Andrew Bridge, Director of Brand and Communications, Virgin Mobile, “Making Twitter super easy to use on your phone is a natural move for us. In fact, I’m so pumped I need to go tweet this right now!”


This release will also go out today on Virgin Mobile’s Twitter account, @virginmobilecan. Here it is sized down into a 140-character tweet:
