Bring it on! Canada heads to U.S. for cheerleading world cup


Virgin Mobile signs sponsorship deal to cheer on Cheerleading in Canada

TORONTO (ONTARIO) April 20, 2009

Canada’s cheerleading industry has been tossed sky-high today by a major new sponsorship deal with Canada’s number one youth mobile network - Virgin Mobile Canada. The Canadian Cheer Union and Cheer Alliance have signed a sponsorship deal with Virgin Mobile Canada which includes Virgin Mobile’s sponsorship of the first ever Canadian national cheerleading team to head to the Cheerleading World Cup Championships taking place in Florida in late April and the 2009 Cheer Alliance National Canadian Cheerleading Championships taking place in Toronto in early May.

 

The Canadian Cheerleading Union (CCU) will be heading to Florida later this week with two all-star cheerleading teams to compete with the world’s best at the 1st Annual International Cheer Union Cheerleading World Cup Championship on April 24 at the Walt Disney World Resort. The competition will draw 100 teams from over 40 nations. Team Canada includes an elite co-ed level five team and an elite all-girl level five team. Each team has 24 athletes and six alternates.

 

On top of that, Virgin Mobile is presenting the 2009 Cheer Alliance National Canadian Cheerleading Championships at the Hersey Centre in Mississauga on May 8 – 10, 2009. Over 300 all-star cheerleading teams of various ages from across Canada will compete over three days attracting more than 30,000 spectators.
