Why should I buy online?

You’ll get your activated phone in just a few days. All you have to do is turn it on and you’re ready to roll! No waiting in a store for your phone to get activated and no need to hop in your car or bus to get to a store.

What is HSPA+ all about anyway?

HSPA+ gets you:

  • Access to the hottest, high-tech phones, smartphones, and mobile internet products.
  • The best coverage and roaming to more than 200 countries around the world.
  • Better Speeds (up to 21mbps; depending on your phone or stick, your location, and network traffic)

Here’s the nitty gritty. HSPA+ stands for High Speed Packet Access. Fun, right? It’s the newest and shiniest evolution of GSM. The majority of the world uses either a GSM or HSPA+ network, so this gives Virgin Mobile members access to a much broader range of phones including some of the hottest and most-coveted smartphones in the world.

HSPA+ is Canada’s largest, fastest high-speed mobile network. We’ve got 93% of the population covered and members can use their HSPA+ phone in over 200 countries!

Heads-up! The actual speed you’ll get is based on the phone or stick you’re using and the network traffic.

What is the difference between CDMA and HSPA+ ?

The main difference between HSPA+ and CDMA is speed (up to 21mbps on HSPA+ ) and the ability to roam outside of Canada and the US with HSPA+. Plus it’s just new and cool.

Can I bring my HSPA phone from the other guys over to Virgin Mobile Canada?

Totally, as long as your phone is compatible with our network. We’ll have a compatibility chart up online soon, but in the meantime give us a shout at 1.888.999.2321 to find out if your phone is good to go with us.

What happens to my CDMA phone?

No problem. Your CDMA phone will still work. We love all our members no matter which phone they have and we’d never leave anyone hanging.

Can I bring my iPhone to Virgin Mobile?

Yes. If you have an existing iPhone with another company and it has been unlocked, then a Virgin Mobile SIM card with a smartphone plan will work. Virgin Mobile can’t unlock iPhones for customers. Once unlocked and activated with an active Virgin Mobile SIM card, members will need to change their service settings to the Virgin Mobile settings to get up and running.

Can I use my GSM phone from another company on the HSPA+ network?

Sorry, you’ll only be able to use HSPA+ phones and sticks on our new HSPA+ network (and CDMA phones and sticks on our older 3G network).

Can I buy a SIM card from Virgin Mobile Canada and use a phone from the other guys?

If you get a Virgin Mobile SIM card but use a compatible phone or stick from another company, you’ll have limited support for data, depending on your phone or stick. Voice and text will be supported for non-Virgin Mobile phones and sticks and for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Apple iPhone.

Will Virgin Mobile Canada unlock my phone for me?

Sorry, but we don’t unlock any HSPA phones from other companies, including iPhone.

Will Virgin unlock my phone from another carrier?

You’ll have to get your phone unlocked from the other guys, but we’ll be happy to set you up with a Virgin Mobile SIM card.

Is there a way to extend the warranty and support period for my iPhone?

Sure, Apple Care will extend the warranty on the iPhone from one to two years and the complimentary technical support from ninety days to one year. Get in touch with Apple Care for more info.

I’m having issues with my iPhone. Who can I call?

iPhone customers an get complimentary phone support from Apple within 90 days of buying your iPhone. The Apple Technical Support number is 1-800-263-3394.

I bought an app from Apple’s App Store and am having issues with it. Who do I contact for support?

You’d want to get in touch with the app developer if you need help. The developer’s contact info can be found on the application’s information page in the Apple App Store.

What do I do if I can’t get my phone to work out of the box?

A couple of things you can do before calling our Member Care department:

  • Make sure your battery is fully charged
  • Make sure the battery is properly hooked up into your phone
