You'll also need to live in the ever growing area with network coverage. If you're not in the area yet, don't worry, we'll get it to you soon.

HOW IT WORKS

Making a call: Just keep doing what you’re doing. If you’re in the VoLTE area, everything will improve automatically.

Making a video call: Just select the video call icon, call another Virgin Plus Member with a compatible phone and it’ll feel like they’re right there next to you.

Heads up! Video calling over LTE isn't available on the iPhone.

Switch from voice to video: Just tap the video icon on the voice call screen to see the person you’re talking to.

Switch from video to voice: Tap the voice call button to turn off the video and switch to a voice call without dropping the call.

Receiving a video call: You’re in control. When a video call is coming in you can decide if you want to see, hear, or just text them back later.

Enable or disable Voice and Video over LTE: Want to go old school and turn off the high quality voice and video? Go to the phone dial pad and select More > Settings > Voice over LTE > Do not allow VoLTE calls. This will also disable video calling.

Got questions? We can help.

Coverage

  • Can I access VoLTE outside of Canada ?
  • What happens if I leave the coverage area during a call?

If you leave the Voice and Video over LTE coverage area during a voice call, it will switch seamlessly to a regular voice call over the HSPA network.
Please note that video calling is only available within the Voice and Video over LTE coverage area. If you leave the coverage area while on a video call, it’ll automatically transition into a regular voice call over the HSPA network. To switch back to video calling, you must be in a Voice and Video over LTE coverage area and restart the video call by hanging up and calling again.

  • Can I make video calls over a Wi-Fi connection?

No. Video calling on Android phones only works on a mobile network connection, even if your phone is connected to Wi-Fi.

Heads up! Video calling over LTE isn't available on the iPhone.

  • Is Voice and Video over LTE available in my area?

Pricing

  • Will I be charged differently for voice calls over LTE?

No, you won’t be charged differently for voice calls. Charges remain the same as before. Voice usage will be deducted from the minutes available in your rate plan or, if applicable, charged at pay-per-use out-of-bundle rates. Long distance charges may apply.

  • Will I be charged for data usage for video calls over LTE?

Yes, data used for video calls will be charged at standard data rates (from data included in your rate plan or add-on, or at pay-per-use data rates as applicable). A video call uses approximately 6 MB of data per minute.
Voice minutes used while on a video call will be deducted from the monthly allotment provided in your rate plan or, if applicable, charged at pay-per-use out-of-bundle rates.
