How to use calling Features.

Voicemail

Checking your Voicemail is basically like dialing your own number from your phone, so don't forget that regular airtime charges apply when you call your Voicemail on your phone and long distance charges apply if you check your Voicemail from outside of your home area. If you call in to your Voicemail from another phone, it's free.

When you get new Voicemails you'll get a little notification on your phone as long as you're inside Virgin Mobile's coverage area.

How To Set Up Your Voicemail

  1. You need to set up your Voicemail for the first time from your mobile phone. Press and hold down the 1 key for a few second to get started.
  2. Then follow the prompts to set up your name and greeting.

How To Check Your Voicemail

From your phone, press and hold down the 1 for a few seconds

OR check Voicemails from another phone by dialing your mobile phone number.

  1. When you hear your own message hit the # key.
  2. Type in your password and follow the prompts.

Call Forwarding

With Call Forwarding you can make all your incoming calls head to another phone number. Any local or North American number will work, but it can't be an International number. You'll still be able to make out-going calls from your phone, but all your incoming calls will go to whichever number you've forwarded them to.

Heads-up! Don't forget that with Call Forwarding you'll still be charged like you would for any other call. If you forward your calls to a number outside of your home area, regular long distance charges will be added on. If you've got a plan that includes long distance minutes, then these long distance call forwarded calls will be taken from your monthly rate plan minutes.

How To Turn On Call Forwarding

  1. Hit *72 before the area code and number where you want to forward your calls. If this number is long distance from your phone, make sure you dial 1 before the area code and phone number.
  2. Hit the green Send key. You'll hear a beep letting you know when Call Forwarding is turned on.

How To Turn Off Call Forwarding

  1. Hit *720.
  2. Hit the green Send key. You'll hear a beep letting you know when Call Forwarding is turned off.

Call Display

Call Display (a.k.a. Caller ID) shows you the number of whoever's calling you so can decide if you want to answer the call or not. This is a good feature if you're really popular. When you add it with Call Waiting, then you can see the numbers of who's calling you even if you're on another call.

How To Block Your Number

  1. To block your number for one call, hit *67 before the area code and number when you dial.
  2. To block your number for all calls, give our Care Team a shout at 1-888-999-23211-888-999-2321.
  3. If you block all calls and want to display your number for just one call, hit *82 before the area code and number when you dial.

Heads-up! Blocking your number depends on which network the person you're calling is on and we can't guarantee that it will work 100% of the time.

Call Waiting

Call Waiting makes sure you never miss a call when you're already on the phone. When another call comes in (and it will, because you're clearly in demand…) you'll hear two fast beeps. You can answer the second call or let it go right to Voicemail.

Plus if you've got Call Display you'll also see the number of the person who's calling in to help you decide if you want to answer it or not.

Don't forget that if you use Call Waiting have two calls on the go at the same time, you'll be using airtime for both calls.

How To Use Call Waiting

  1. When you're on the phone and hear the two fast beeps, hit the green Send key to answer the incoming call. Your first call is put on hold while you talk to the new caller.
  2. Hit the green Send key to move back and forth between calls.
  3. To end one of the calls, ask that caller to hang up and hit the green Send to talk to the caller who's still on the line.
  4. To end both calls, hit the red End key.

Turning Call Waiting Off For One Call

  1. Hit *70 and then the area code and phone number. If it's a long distance call, hit 1 before the area code.
  2. Hit the green Send key.

Call Waiting will be turned off for this one call and if anyone calls you then they'll hear a busy tone. Call Waiting will automatically switch back on after you hang up.

Conference Calling

With Conference Calling you can talk to two other people at the same time, whether they're local or long distance. You can either make or receive the first call, but the second call that you're adding in has to be made by you.

Don't forget that airtime is charges for both calls and that long distance applies if you're calling a number outside of your home area.

How To Use Conference Calling

  1. Once you're on the phone with the first caller, ask them to hold for a second and then press the green Send key.
  2. Dial the second number and hit Send.
  3. When you've got the second person on the line, hit Send.
  4. To end the second call but keep talking to the first caller, hit Send.
  5. To end both calls, hit the red End key.

Making A Call While You’re Outside Of Canada

To make an international call when you’re roaming on an LTE or HSPA network, hold the “0” key until “+” appears on display before entering the phone number.

To make an international call when you’re roaming on an EVDO network, punch in an international dialling code before the phone number you are calling.

Heads-up! Roaming isn’t available on Prepaid plans yet.
