Virgin Mobile is on the hunt for the Screw You Recession! summer intern

Virgin Mobile and Screw You Recession! are looking for a financially-savvy summer job seeker to show the recession who’s boss. The winning recessionista will become the Screw You Recession! Summer Intern and spend their days searching for stories, digging for deals, interviewing financial experts, blogging for www.screwyourecession.ca, and just generally telling the recession where to stick it.
What does this savvy mastermind get in return? A paid summer internship at Virgin Mobile, three month’s salary at $2,000 a month, a snazzy new personal laptop, a new Virgin Mobile BlackBerry® 3G smartphone, a Flip™ video camera, and the chance to interview one of the world’s most innovative billionaires, Sir Richard Branson!

Before going through Virgin Mobile’s official interview process with a panel of recession experts, interested candidates will first have to show Virgin Mobile they’ve got what it takes by posting their personal video at www.screwyourecessionintern.com and explain why they should be Canada’s top choice for the job. The five finalists, as voted on by visitors to the site, will then go on for the next round of interviews at Virgin Mobile. The ability to speak and write fluently in both English and French will be a definite asset.
The hunt for the Screw You Recession! Summer Intern is all part of Virgin Mobile’s Screw You Recession! campaign that kicked off earlier this year in February with a huge billboard installation at Yonge and Dundas Square in downtown Toronto, Canada’s busiest urban intersection, and has been matched by an outdoor and online marketing campaign that focuses on easy tips from real people on how to save cash. More recently Virgin Mobile launched www.screwyourecession.ca – a website that helps people take control of their costs and get a positive, no-holds-barred view on how to beat the recession. The site is packed with money saving tips, tools and other information for every savvy recessionista.
How To Apply To The Screw You Recession! Summer Intern Search
Candidates who think they’ve got what it takes can post their online video and fill out an application at www.screwyourecessionintern.com. Applications open today and close Friday May 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. EDT.
Canada will then vote for their favorite videos via www.screwyourecessionintern.com and in late May the top five applicants will be announced. Virgin Mobile will review the top five finalists and announce the winning intern on June 1, 2009. The winning candidate must be able to work full time for Virgin Mobile for a period of three months over the summer.
